Guide for Applicants

Steps to follow:
  1. Make sure that our programme is suitable for you - check the Eligibility Criteria.
  2. Choose a research Group from IChF conducting research in the field that may interest you. Subsequently, select a mentor from this group who may support your project. For more information about the IChF research groups, see here.
  3. Enter IChF Equipment Database. Make sure that we dispose of the infrastructure that is essential for your project. Under a budget for your research project, you may only purchase a tiny research apparatus. If IChF does not have a specific infrastructure you need, try to select a partner who may supplement our equipment.
  4. Outline your research project following the Proposal Template
  5. Contact your chosen IChF mentor, introduce yourself and your project to them, and ask for a supporting letter (template).
  6. Contact a co-mentor from our network of International Scientific Partner Organisations or propose another co-mentor.
If you choose the co-mentor from outside of the Partner Organisations list, please note that they must be a high-profile scientist and an ERC/EIC/other high-impact grantee. Ask the selected co-mentor to sign a supporting letter (template).
  7. To increase your chances of joining the programme, contact a business partner who may supplement your research to agree on the details and sign a letter of support (no template provided).
  8. Work out your proposal in detail (template) and prepare a project abstract (up to 1,500 characters).
  9. Prepare a CV with a description of:
Career Course (in academia and beyond), notably research/application projects, a candidate’s role in these projects, description of international experience, and countries of residence
Key Research Outputs: major publications; patents, industrial or utility designs (applications or granted rights)
  10. Check if you have all the documents specified here.
  11. Use the Application Module to send your application.
  12. Check your e-mail regularly for further information.

If you still lack details, check our Guide for applicants.
We wish you good luck!
